Master Hernaez“In these times of troubles, when focus is on competition, it appears to me that it is vital for Man’s future to encourage everything that can bring harmony and peace. If Nihon Tai Jitsu, the way I designed it, can make its contribution, it will be my best reward and the hope in a life of progress.”

Report: Visit to Ecuador

Following the kind invitation of the “Asociación Bushindo Ju-jutsu Ecuador” and its president, the professor Gustavo Sánchez Coronel, I went to Guayaquil from November 20 to December 1 to lead an intensive Nihon Tai Jitsu seminar, in order to establish a relationship between the FMNITAI and the Asociación Bushindo.

This association currently counts one dojo in Guayaquil, with around sixty students, including a dozen of ju-jutsu black belts as well as a kid group. One has to note the excellent work of the Spanish professor Master Luís Díaz, who created the group 25 years ago and of his successor the professor Gustavo Sánchez. His knowledge in Ju-Jutsu and his technical bases in Nihon Tai Jitsu are very fair, even though he lacks and update on our programme.

During my stay in Ecuador, with the black belt group, we reviewed the Kihon Waza, the basic techniques and Katas until Shodan, as well as notions on Self Defence and Randori following the ranking programme of Nihon Tai Jitsu with the mudansha and kids.

During the last three days, we did an intensive seminar with around thirty participants, in Playas, next to the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by nature, with a programme focused on physical conditioning and an advanced work on Nihon Tai Jitsu and Nihon Kobudo techniques.

At the end of the seminar, we accepted the Bushindo Ju-Jutsu Ecuador's affiliation to the FMNITAI for 2014 and the continuation of our collaboration to develop Nihon Tai Jitsu in the region.
